Advising at Pitt

At the University of Pittsburgh, advising and mentoring are integral to the University’s educational mission. We advocate for collaborative and holistic advising interactions.

The shared model of advising incorporates faculty mentors, academic advisors, program advisors, and resources advisors to support the students in a holistic manner. The Student Success Team works with all advising roles to ensure a coordinated approach to student support.

Pitt's shared model of advising means the Student Success team provides oversite to a network of advisors (including faculty mentors, academic advisors, program advisors, and resource advisors) in your respective academic units. This leads to better coordinated support and a holistic advising experience as multiple systems work together for you.
